About Me

I am known as "Brother Bill" and I'll skip all the hoop-la and formality of being a senior pastor. I prefer to gain the respect of others rather than using a title to get it.

Out here in the country I may spend any given day working along side a farmer harvesting peanuts, hauling hay, working cows or repairing equipment. I enjoy working with my hands (as time will allow) rather than standing in a pulpit. Don't get me wrong... I love good preaching... even when its me doing it. I see being a Pastor as being a Shepard and a Shepard lives "with" his sheep. I am not some CEO of a business, standing above and sending orders to the ones below. I have been saying the same thing from the beginning of my ministry; The thing I do best is... loving my flock.

My greatest assets are to be found in my Family. Nancy and I have been married for 45 years. We have two daughters, six grandchildren, one great grandchild, a brilliant grand-son-in-law and a musically talented son-in-law. (one daughter is a single mom)

I should be telling you here about myself, but much of who I am is really the work of others. I am NOT a self-made-man. My life has been full of people that have loved, taught, pushed/pulled, guided and carried me through. At the top of the list would be my wife, Nancy. Nancy is the hardest working person I have ever known. Her strength and endurance are beyond compare. She is a woman of God (virtuous), mother/grandmother/great-grandmother,cancer survivor, educator, councilor, musician, singer, gardener, seamstress and much, much more. She has accomplished all this in her life while supporting me in my ministry... some would say that she raised me... we did grow up together as we were 16 and 19 years old on our wedding day. I wasn't raised in church and didn't know anything about God, Salvation or the Bible and it was Nancy, more than anyone else, that helped me learn. God gave me the best when he gave me Nancy.

I like to drive old cars, fix them up and trade them, going to small car shows and seeing how other "car guys" fix up their cars. My smile is biggest when some stranger says, "nice car" (currently driving a restored 1957 Chevy). I plan a road trip each spring in one of my old cars. Maybe someday I will actually get to take such a trip... when I retire?

My life is full of joy, laughter, and peace. Things do go wrong on a frequent basis, at home, at church and all around me but my faith keeps me going.
